Sorry for no post last week but I really didn’t have much to share. I’ve been working on teaching myself watercolor painting and dedicated some more time to learn as much as I can via tutorials and videos. There are so many inspirational painters/instructors and it was a bit daunting to hone in on a couple I could resonate with. I’ve since found three artists that I enjoy and have been following them along to learn tips, tricks and techniques.
I’ll share my first attempts, good or not so good, you decide.
I really enjoy painting flowers and enjoy the ‘Lost and Found’ technique by Sandy Allnock, which you can find on YouTube. This technique see to be the most forgiving. These were all done basically the same way but, as you can see, all look so different,
I wasn’t sure what to do with the painted panels and ultimately decided to mount them into cards. I sure have a long way to go but I’ve learned lots from this exercise.
I did discover two important things. (1) Make more than one attempt. I found the more times I tried a particular technique, the better and easier it became. (2) Don’t skimp on supplies. Better quality paints, paper and brushes make a world of difference. You get better results which definitely boost your confidence.
Hopefully, I’ll be back next week with more samples.
Enjoy your artsy time in whatever way makes you happy.
