FIRST NIGHT, FIRST CARD 2013

Happy New Year to all,

While everyone was ringing in 2013, I was making my first card of 2013.

Let me first start with the box.  I wanted an envelope box so I searched the internet and found a template.  Of course, wrong size.   I put my thinking cap on and made my own template to fit my card which is @ 5″x7″.  A bit challenging for me since I never took geometry but eventually I figured it out.

So what’s in the box????  This cute little birdie card caught my eye so I got to work and reproduced it with some modifications.  The original sample was cut from dies, easy but expensive to purchase all the single die elements.  I had some supplies and dies and came up with my own version.

The branch and bird I cut from the Cricut Songbird cartridge.  The fence is a old Sizzix die.  The red vellum flowers and leaves…well, I’ve had these in my stash for about 15 years.  I remember getting them on clearance at AC Moore.  I cut the grass by hand, added a stamped sentiment and bow to complete this card.  And it fits beautifully in the envelope box.

So I think I’ve started the new year off on the right foot, don’t you?  If anyone has any questions or wants further info, just email me.  I’d be happy to share with you.

Linda
